Schedule: The schedule is flexible; however, the majority of hours would need to occur between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. The end date of employment may extend beyond the estimated end date and daily hours may be extended to 40 hours during summer hours dependent upon the workload and schedule of the selected intern.

Overview: The Dixie National Forest is looking for a positive, outgoing, student intern to assist with administrative support responsibilities in an office environment. The schedule is flexible; however, most hours will need to occur between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.The intern will be a data manager with the USDA Forest Service. The selected applicant will be responsible for transferring ecological data from an antiquated database into a current system. In addition to data transfer, incumbent will structure files and organize data for continued use in land management planning/reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter and able to work alone and unsupervised, once trained.
  • Individuals applying to this announcement will need to be highly organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Candidates will need to possess good computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, creation, and organization of electronic filing systems based in Microsoft or similar systems. (No programming or software creation/editing will be needed)
  • Successful candidates will be required to lift and move boxes filled with folders that may weigh up to forty pounds.
  • The chosen intern will scan individual documents, and file them electronically.
  • Intern will assist in creating and organizing electronic files. (No programming or software creation/editing will be needed).
  • Hardcopies will be returned to folders in an organized systematic fashion as outlined by the supervisor or staff.

Qualifications:
